CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – UVA has finally hashed out demographic numbers for its 3039 1st-years this academic year. The Class of ’28 has 20%, or about 750, first-generation students attending college in their families. They hail from 99 different countries or jurisdictions.

Some are from 6 native nations… Cherokee, Chickasaw, Choctaw, Nansemond, Native Village of Eyak, and Patawomeck. 10% identify as Hispanic, Latino, Latina, or LatinX… and 9.4% are Black or African-American. 66% are Virginians and 6% are military-affiliated.
