CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – The UVA Cancer Center is seeking local residents to apply for its new Community Cancer Research Fellows Program (CCRF), aimed at fostering collaboration between researchers and the community to address cancer-related challenges.

The 10-month, paid fellowship offers participants training and hands-on experience in cancer research, allowing them to contribute their perspectives while working closely with researchers. The program is open to individuals passionate about community health, with no prior experience required.

“Community members bring diverse backgrounds and valuable lived experiences, leading to more impactful research outcomes,” said Dr. Wendy Cohn, associate director of UVA Cancer Center’s Office of Community Outreach and Engagement.

Applications are open until September 27, with the program set to begin on October 23 in Charlottesville.
