Charlottesville, VA (cvillerightnow.com): After Perfect Game USA ranked UVA in the top three best NCAA Baseball squads in the nation, two Cavaliers made their list of Second-Team Preseason all-Americans. For those who watched UVA last season, their names should surprise few. Henry Godbout was last season’s team leader in batting average at .372, good for sixth highest in the ACC. His offensive numbers were stellar, and most of his marks were career highs, they included 18 doubles, nine home runs and 47 RBI. Godbout is in the mix to play shortstop after the departure of Griff O’Ferrall to the MLB draft last summer, and his stellar fielding percentage will put him in pole position for that key spot in the infield. On the other hand, Henry Ford’s freshman season at UVA was nothing short of perfect. In his first year on Grounds, he hit .336, with 13 doubles, a triple and a freshman record 17 homeruns. He also led the team with 69 rbis, good for fifth all time in a Cavalier uniform, and second in all of NCAA Baseball for freshmen in 2024. Needless to say, Godbout and Ford will be two players set to make yet more noise in the new season.
