Charlottesville, VA (cvillerightnow.com): The pre-season accolades are continuing to pile up for UVA Baseball. Both D1 Baseball and Perfect Game USA chose several Cavaliers to receive Pre-Season All-American honors. Four Hoos made the cut for D1 Baseball, Catcher Jacob Ferrence and 2B Henry Godbout made the first team. Godbout, who also earned second team honors for Perfect Game, hit at a .372 clip in 2024, good for sixth in the ACC. He also fielded his position at 98.2% last season, making only four errors. Ferrence hit 17 homeruns and 13 doubles and started 53 times behind the plate in his first season on Grounds. Talented left-handed pitcher Evan Blanco made the second team, after a great year that saw him win eight games and pitch to a 3.62 ERA. In what is shaping to be a promising first year in UVA colors, utility man Chris Arroyo, the JUCO transfer from Pasco-Hernando State, made third team. Last season, Arroyo hit .403 with 19 homeruns at the plate and won five games on the mound at a 3.53 ERA clip while striking out 63. Finally, second-year slugger Henry Ford made the Perfect Game second team. Ford hit .336 in his first season, hitting 17 homeruns and batting in 69 rbis in 61 games. First pitch for the Hoos will be Friday February 14th at 2:00pm against the Michigan Wolverines in Ponce, Puerto Rico.
