CHARLOTTESVILLE (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – The University of Virginia’s Chief Human Resources Officer John Kosky, and Vice Provost for Global Affairs, Steve Mull, are advising international students and scholars to be in touch with an advisor in the International Student and Scholar Program office to discuss any concern about immigration status. This in light this past week of one current student, and two recent alumni on the Optional Practice Training programs whose visas have been cancelled. A message in the Federal Information section of the UVA website notes University officials have been “in contact with the affected individuals to offer support”.

The University does not know reasons for the revocations, and a letter to the UVA International Community from UVA Global says “we will continue to closely track these events, as well as the legal challenges to these actions centering on First Amendment and due process rights of those affected”.
