CULPEPER, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – The Virginia Department of Transportation is updating previously announced traffic impacts for the U.S. 29/250 Bypass at the Route 601 (Old Ivy Road) bridge in Albemarle County.

As part of ongoing work to replace the Old Ivy Road bridge, intermittent overnight stoppages will still take place Monday through Thursday next week. However, the full overnight closures originally scheduled for Friday, June 13 and Saturday, June 14 have been postponed.

Drivers can expect intermittent 15-minute traffic stoppages between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. from June 9 through June 12. Flagging teams will direct traffic during the stoppages. Drivers are advised to use caution in the work zone and follow all traffic controls.

The Old Ivy Road bridge, originally built in 1961, is being replaced due to structural deficiencies. Work began on Feb. 3 and the project is expected to be completed in July 2026.
