CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Seven people were displaced by a housefire that ignited a unit at the University Heights Apartments on Wednesday night, Albemarle County Fire Rescue announced Thursday morning.

An ACFR release said career and volunteer units responded around 9:30 p.m. to reports of a fire in the University Heights community.

The first firefighters arrived about nine minutes after first dispatch to find smoke showing from one of the apartment buildings.

They contained the fire about ten minutes later.

The fire marshal determined the cause was an accidental cooking fire in one of the units, and the fire impacted two units displacing the seven total residents.

No one was hurt, and the Red Cross is assisting those displaced.
