STAUNTON, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW): The United Way of Staunton, Augusta County, and Waynesboro announced Thursday, via a press-release from their board of directors, that running the organization has become untenable and has paused operations.
The website of the United Way of SAW now reads “UWSAW has paused operations. We are committed to keeping our community informed and will share more as soon as possible. Please check back for updates. Thank you for your support.”
Any community members in looking for additional resources can find them at https://www.unitedwaysaw.org/local-resources-0 and at https://www.211.org/ .
According to the release as reported by Lyra Bordelon of The Staunton News Leader, operational costs have been steadily rising, in part due to Covid-19, along with pledges declining. They hope that services will remain available in the area through other United Way affiliates.
