CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Two adults were killed and two minors injured in a morning fire at a two-story home on Starry Sky Lane in Keswick on Sunday, according to a release from Albemarle County Fire Rescue.
Ashley and Stephen Williams were transported to UVA Hospital where they were pronounced dead. A minor was taken VCU in critical condition and a second minor was taken to UVA.
A dog was also found dead inside the home.
At 7:09 a.m. Sunday, Albemarle County Fire Rescue and Albemarle County Police were dispatched for the report of a structure fire. When police arrived at the scene, they “found a neighbor searching for residents in a two-story home with heavy smoke coming from the second floor,” according to the release.
An ACFR battalion chief joined the effort about 10 minutes later and six minutes after that, the first fire suppression apparatus arrived. Crews worked to search for people in the home, administer medical care to those who had been found and bring the fire under control.
The Albemarle County Fire Marshal’s Office has ruled the fire to be accidental in nature, according to the release.
