CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – The Charlottesville Tom Sox are heating up in July 2024. On Saturday, Bobby Olsen delivered an impressive performance on the mound, pitching four shutout innings and striking out five Harrisonburg Turks. Relievers Ryan Grzesiak, Frank Mendendez, and Garrett Mason secured the win, allowing only three runs in total.
Offensively, the Sox shone with two triples from Ryan Wynn, another from Cooper Blauser, and RBI hits from Cale Stricklin and Caden Ferraro, leading to a 9-3 victory.
Sunday brought a high of 97 degrees, but the Sox overcame both the Staunton Braves and the heat. A five-run fourth inning, followed by two runs in the sixth and one in the eighth, secured a 10-4 win. This victory expanded the Sox’s lead in the Southern Division by three games.
