CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Soaking rains are coming from a tropical system, if you weren’t paying attention over the weekend, has been cooking up off the coast of the Carolinas. Accuweather’s Jeff Nordeen says we can expect the storm to make landfall in North Carolina — where coastal areas were already getting inundated Monday morning — and bring rains here beginning this (Monday) evening.

He says we’ll likely see 1-to-2 inches in our area, with isolated places seeing as much as 4, before tapering off into an occasional shower Thursday. While we could see some ponding on grassy areas and roadways, he doesn’t expect we’ll see any heavy flash flooding.
