RICHMOND (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – At your local gas station, you’re seeing what Triple-A MidAtlantic’s Morgan Dean describes as “a bump at the pump”. Dean says after paying some of the lowest prices over the last few weeks in years, Virginia’s gas price average Thursday was $2.93 a gallon, up 7-cents from last week… but still 9-cents less than a month ago.
Dean says while crude oil prices are hanging out around $68 a barrel, refineries are transitioning from winter grade to summer grade gas which is less likely to evaporate in warm temperatures. However, Dean says it’s more expensive and we could see as much as a 20-cent bump over the next month.
