RICHMOND, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – More than 71-million Americans are traveling — more than 2-million of them being Virginians — this July 4th holiday and popular destinations are out west and Europe. Triple-A MidAtlantic’s Morgan Dean says roughly 90-percent are traveling by car… and 7-percent flying. The nation’s most popular domestic destinations one-thru-five are Seattle, WA; Orlando, FL; Anchorage, AK; Honolulu, HI; and Miami, FL. Dean says the West Coast is particularly popular because of cruises to Alaska, and Honolulu is always a popular destination.

Top international destinations one-thru-five are Vancouver, BC; London; Rome; Dublin; and Paris. Dean says Europe is always popular in the summer because it’s the season travelers do extended stays.
