CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – The Tom Sox faced the Culpeper Cavaliers last night, maintaining a 4.5 game lead in the Valley League Southern Division.

Colby Wallace hit an early home run in the first inning, giving the Tom Sox an initial lead. Gabriel Larry responded for the Cavaliers in the second inning, narrowing the score to 2-1. Larry’s second single in the fourth inning shifted the lead to 3-2 in favor of Culpeper. Ryan Wynn’s two-run triple in the fifth inning reclaimed the lead for the Tom Sox.

The game saw five lead changes in total. In the ninth inning, pinch hitter Robbie Lavey tied the game at 5. However, the Cavaliers secured victory in the bottom of the ninth when Kazuya Jordan of VMI scored the decisive run, concluding the game at 6-5.

The Tom Sox will host the Covington Lumberjacks for a doubleheader this evening.
