CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – With a week left in the season… and a couple of weeks including the playoffs… the Charlottesville Tom Sox’s Valley League is looking for host families. League Commissioner RW Bowman says it’s a time of transition with the Major League Baseball draft and a lot of other college age players. That means a lot of teams are taking on new players, and some host families don’t want to take a new player. He says every team now — including the Sox — need families willing to open their homes up to some players.

He says these players’ priority right now is playing baseball, but they’re lining paths up through college education if baseball doesn’t work out. Bowman says his was a host family before he became league commissioner, and relationships build to the point his family’s been invited to weddings and has continuing friendships with players they hosted.
