Charlottesville, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Ahead of Democracy Day, Tim Heaphy, former U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Virginia and member of the January 6th Commission, discussed his new book, Harbingers: What Charlottesville and January 6 Reveal About Threats to Democracy. The book explores the alarming parallels between the 2017 Charlottesville rally and the January 6 Capitol insurrection.

Discussing UVA, Heaphy has stated, “It’s not easy being a college president… it’s tough.” referring to the recent no-confidence letter from 128 UVA medical faculty members. He emphasized that the situation requires an independent review, saying, “This has to get kicked to an outside independent evaluator.”

Heaphy’s legal expertise and in-depth experience provide a unique perspective on the intersection of democracy, leadership, and public trust in both Charlottesville and beyond.
