Charlottesville, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – The Center at Belvedere continues to emphasize that it’s more than just a space for older adults, it’s a vibrant, welcoming hub for the entire community. Executive Director Melanie Benjamin addressed common misconceptions during a recent radio appearance, noting that “about probably 30% of our programs are free and open to the public… You don’t have to be a member to walk in the door and listen to some great music in the atrium and grab a cup of coffee and look at the art.”

Upcoming free events include a spring band concert this Saturday at 3:00 and an educational program on estate planning, both designed to create engagement and learning. ” We have three bands at the Center and it’s a free concert. It’s really lovely,” said Benjamin, inviting everyone to attend regardless of age or membership status.

The Center also plays a key role in civic and emotional support, offering candidate forums, support groups, and more. “There’s a lot of opportunity for people to come engage in conversation and build community…you don’t want to suffer alone,” Benjamin explained. With scholarships available and no paperwork required, the Center remains committed to ensuring access for all who wish to participate.
