Charlottesville, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Charlottesville’s Center at Belvedere is gearing up for a busy September with a series of events designed to engage and educate the local community. Melanie Benjamin, Executive Director of the Center, shared details during a recent interview, highlighting the significance of these upcoming events.
“We have a series of events that are happening in September that we really want to talk to folks about because it’s a very cool thing,” Benjamin stated. One of the main attractions is an exhibition featuring portraits from the Americans Who Tell the Truth series by artist Robert Shetterly. The exhibition will be on display through September 21st and includes talks and a gallery walk led by Shetterly himself.
In addition to the art exhibition, the Center will also host a candidate forum as part of its ongoing commitment to civic engagement. Benjamin expressed the Center’s broader mission, stating, “We are a resource for people who are 50 and older, but we’re also…a resource for the community, because aging is never a date on a calendar.” The Center at Belvedere continues to position itself as a hub for both educational and civic activities, making it a vital part of Charlottesville’s community fabric.
