Charlottesville, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – The Arc of the Piedmont is inviting the community to participate in their 11th annual Santa Fun Run on December 7th at 10:00 AM, a festive event aimed at promoting inclusion for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
The Santa Fun Run, a family-friendly event, features participants running or walking a short route through downtown Charlottesville in Santa suits, which are provided as part of the $25 entry fee for adults, $15 for children 12-3.
John Santoski, the Executive Director of The Arc of the Piedmont, highlighted the organization’s long-standing commitment to supporting individuals with disabilities and fostering inclusion within the community, noting its 60 years of service through group homes, day programs, and other initiatives. He also announced the launch of a new art studio aimed at expanding community outreach and providing socialization and respite programs for children and adults.
“We started this 11 years ago and it’s just grown each and every year. And we just think it’s a great way to give back to the community,” explained Bryan Harris, Director of Development at The Arc of the Piedmont. “It’s just a fun way for the community to come back, come together and support people you know, and for 30 minutes, everybody looks the same.”
This year, participants will enjoy hot chocolate, music, and a festive atmosphere with families and pets taking part in the celebration. Funds raised will support The Arc’s mission to provide critical services to individuals who often rely on affordable housing and community support.
The event is open to all ages, with registration available here. For more information listen to the full conversation here:
