Suzanne Michelle Smith, 54, of Charlottesville, Virginia, died on Thursday, January 4, 2024.
Born December 11, 1969, in New Canaan, Connecticut, she was the daughter of John R. and Barbara J. Smith (Gralow). She was preceded in death by both her parents and a brother, Douglas P. Smith.
Suzanne (Suzy) was raised in Centreville, VA where she attended Chantilly High School graduating in 1989. Always driven to help others, in high school she participated in the local hospital’s Candy Striper program. After high school she attended George Washington University’s Emergency Medicine Services Degree Program, Pre-Hospital Education and was a volunteer EMT with the Manassas Park Volunteer Fire Department. As an adult after several moves within Virginia, she moved to the Charlottesville area and began volunteer work assisting AA as their Historian as well as other positions; she gave her time as a sponsor to many members. Suzy had a soft heart for those in need. Her family called her “Sweet Sue” who will be remembered for her selfless service to people overcoming addiction. Her smile will be missed by all.
Suzy is survived by her sister Kathryn Schulin (Gar) Warrenton, VA, and brother, Stephen Smith (Barbara) of Spotsylvania, VA.
