Charlottesville Police have made an arrest in the recent assault of a women on the Rivanna Trail. 24-year old city resident Patrick McNamara was arrested on Thursday, and charged with assault and battery.

Police got call around 10am on Friday, January 12th from a woman who claimed an unknown white male assaulted her on the trail between Riverview Park and Free Bridge. A second call came in later that afternoon from someone who claimed they were assaulted in that same area about an hour before this incident.

The investigation is ongoing as officers look into other reports and evidence.
