Stuart Lee Perry, 84, of Charlottesville passed away on Friday, June 14, 2024. He was born on November 28, 1939 in Charlottesville, Virginia to the late Cecil Aubrey Perry and Marie Cadell Morris Perry. He was also preceded in death by his siblings Paul Perry and Cecelia Perry Saunders.
Stuart is survived by the love of his life, Gloria, with whom he shared nearly 65 years of marriage, his three sons and their wives: Mike Perry, Cory Perry (Debbie), and Wayne Perry (Leigh Ann). Stuart’s family grew to include five cherished grandchildren: Timmy, Christina, Jonathan, Owen, and Carson. Beyond his immediate family, he is also survived by his sisters-in-law Iva Leigh Bickers and Shirley Perry, along with his brother-in-law Bill Saunders. His impact extends even further, touching the lives of extended family members and many beloved friends.
Stuart owned and operated Covey’s Radio & TV Service for many decades and was instrumental in bringing the first Broadcast signals, then Cable, and finally Satellite T.V. service in to homes in the Charlottesville area. He applied his knowledge and love of electronics, as well as his deep love of music, in service to his church home of many years, First Baptist Church Park Street, where he would wire mics, operate multimedia, and control the sound-board during services. His love of music extended to the rest of his life and he would often play his organ.
Stuart was a private pilot and spent many hours in the air since his first solo flight in 1968. He loved in particular flying his beloved Comanche, N7929P. His love of aviation became a gift he could share with his boys, all three of whom followed his love of aviation in their own ways.
Later in life he took up woodworking, a hobby he had dabbled in earlier, but one which he truly began to appreciate in recent years.
He was a fan of the many wonderful family memories created and shared at Walt Disney World, where he and Gloria visited often.
His love for his family is what truly defined Stuart. He was kind and patient. He never parted without a hug. With Stuart you never had to guess, you just knew that he loved you.
Interment will be private.
