CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW)- So far, Virginia remains unaffected, but the CDC has added three more states to now make it 13 where people contracting e-coli illness from McDonalds’ quarter pounders live. So far all the states are in the Plains and Pacific Northwest. The closest to Virginia is Missouri.
However, the CDC continues monitoring as 26 new illnesses were identified since Tuesday bringing the total number to 75 cases with one death. The specific ingredient linked to illness has not yet been confirmed as the source, but investigators continue to focus on two ingredients in particular: fresh slivered onions, and fresh beef patties, and supplier Taylor Farms has initiated a yellow onion recall.
