CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – A state trooper was injured Tuesday night in a crash during a pursuit on I-81 in Augusta County before the suspect vehicle crashed a short time later, ending the incident.

A State Police release said a trooper was called to assist the Augusta County Sheriff’s Office shortly after 7:30 Tuesday night, and attempted to stop a vehicle southbound on I-81 at mile-marker 230 that failed to yield.

The suspect vehicle continued, exited the interstate, then re-entered, and the trooper vehicle crashed at that on-ramp.

The suspect vehicle continued southbound and crashed about 10-miles later and 20-year old James McLaughlin of Rochester, NY was apprehended on eluding and reckless driving charges.

The trooper was treated and released with minor injuries.

The suspect was not hurt.
