REMINGTON, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – State Police is investigating a fatal paraglider crash in Fauquier County. Sgt. Brent Coffey says the crash occurred last Friday shortly after 6pm in the 12000 block of Lucky Hill Road near Remington. The preliminary investigation revealed that a paraglider attempted to fly directly over a power plant smokestack when it lost control and struck the ground. The paraglider pilot, 77-year old Robert N. Eaheart Jr. of Springfield, Va., died at the scene of the crash. His remains were transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Manassas for an autopsy and examination.

No one on the ground was injured as a result of the crash. The FAA and NTSB were notified of the crash. The crash remains under investigation.
