RICHMOND, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Governor Glenn Youngkin announces $14.4 million in Virginia Land Conservation Foundation funding to conserve 11,220 acres around the Commonwealth… including two areas locally. The 28 projects receiving grant awards for fiscal year 2025 include investments in new parks for the public, conservation easements to protect working timberland and farmland and two land acquisitions by Virginia’s Tribal Nations.

Locally, nearly $390,000 is going to the Virginia Outdoors Foundation Panamint Farm in Louisa County toward an easement protecting 533 acres of active farm and forest land. And more than $162,000 is going toward an easement to protect just over 36 acres for the American Battlefield Trust within the core area in Orange County of the Wilderness battlefield.
