Norris “Sonny” Bishop, 82, of Fluvanna County, passed away on July 9, 2024, while on vacation with his family in Rodanthe, NC.

Sonny was born on November 7,1941, in Bluefield, WV. He was preceded in death by his parents, Norris and Mary Bishop.

Sonny always looked forward to spending vacation with all of his family in Rodanthe, which he did for the past 27 years. When he was younger, he enjoyed fishing trips to the Outer Banks with fellow firefighters. His last wish was to go to the beach and his family made that happen. Sonny spent 30 years as a firefighter with the Charlottesville Fire Department. He retired just a few months before his first grandchild was born. The rest of his life he spent taking care of the family farm and enjoying his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Sonny is survived by his wife, Juanita “Missy” Bishop. Sonny and Juanita started dating when they were teenagers and spent the next 65 years together. He is also survived by his daughters, Melanie (and Chuck) Harlowe; Melissa (and Scott) Hopkins; grandchildren, Annabelle (and Brendan) Goode; Anthony Harlowe; Lily Hopkins; Jackson Hopkins, and great grandchildren, Reece and Ivy Goode. He is also survived by his sister, Joanne (and Jimmy) Stevens.
