CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Rain not dampening the spirits of hundreds of volunteers in today’s (Wednesday) 33rd annual United Way Lawrence E. Richardson Day of Caring. United Way of Greater Charlottesville Board Chair Norm Oliver said he’s been called to service, as are volunteers on this day. Projects include trail clearing to career counseling to clerical work to painting playgrounds or classrooms.
Each year, Day of Caring volunteers complete projects that directly benefit local schools, nonprofits, and faith-based organizations throughout the City of Charlottesville and Counties of Albemarle, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa, Nelson, and Orange. In 2023, over 1,600 volunteers participated, providing an estimated $270,000 in value of service. Click here for information.
