CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Parts of the area are under a wind advisory while other parts are under a severe thunderstorm watch into Wednesday evening. Although rain started around 10am and persists into early afternoon, severe storms are embedded just past noon south and east of Charlottesville. A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for Fluvanna, Louisa, and Orange counties through 6pm. While the rest of the area avoided that as of noon, Albemarle, Charlottesville, Nelson, Greene, Madison, Augusta and Rockingham counties are under a wind advisory until 7pm. The wind advisory area is for sustained 15-to-30mph winds with gusts between 45-and-50.
Futurecast radar indicated at noon severe storms in the southern portions of the Charlottesville area until about 3, then a break, then another line of storms with some heavy ones embedded approach right around dinnertime. Accuweather meteorologist Jeff Nordeen does say expect a severe weather threat in the area through about 6pm.
