Charlottesville, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital hosted the 33rd Annual United Way Day of Caring, where hundreds of volunteers gathered to serve the community. Kimberly Skelley, Executive Director of the Martha Jefferson Hospital Foundation, expressed excitement about the event.
“We’re very proud to be able to host the 33rd Annual United Way Day of Caring Lawrence Richardson Day of Caring here on our campus today,” Skelley said at the start of the event.
Volunteers, including hospital staff from various departments, were deployed throughout the community to participate in different projects. Skelley shared that her team was heading to the Center of Belvedere for a Caribbean-themed event, saying, “We’ll probably get to practice some of our DJ skills, maybe some dancing skills.”
The hospital’s partnership with United Way is a testament to its commitment to community engagement. Skelley emphasized this mission, noting, “Community engagement means getting outside of the hospital to really get to know our partners, get to know our communities.”
