CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Senator Tim Kaine has helped introduce legislation aimed at strengthening the public-private partnerships that preserve, maintain, and manage national trails across the country. The Appalachian Trail Centennial Act focuses on the relationships between these national trail organizations and the National Park Service. Kaine, an avid user of the Appalachian Trail, mentioned his 2019 hike from Harper’s Ferry to the Virginia/Tennessee state line as an example of his personal connection to the trail. Next year marks the 100th anniversary of the Appalachian Trail Conservancy.
