ALBEMARLE COUNTY, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – A Scottsville family it being assisted after a fire in the 300 block of Main Street at approximately 10:55 a.m. on Friday, September 20, 2024.
The first suppression apparatus arrived on scene 8 minutes after dispatch. One adult, two children, and five pets were home at the time of the fire. All of the residents were safely evacuated from the home, and there were no injuries reported. The displaced residents, including an additional adult that was not home at the time of the fire, are being assisted by the American Red Cross.
The root cause of the fire is being investigated by the Albemarle County Fire Marshal’s Office but is believed to have been accidentally caused by discarded smoking debris.
