CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW): A scam is impersonating The Charlottesville Police department calling victims under the guise of setting up appointments, looking for their personal information.   

Police ask anyone who has been targeted by the scam to call (434)-970-3280, email them, or visit them at their offices.   

The release from the department reiterates that calling to obtain personal information or set up appointments unless it pertains to a specific police report that has been filed, is not CPD procedure.  Do not send money or give personal information over the phone.
