CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – The Rivanna Water and Sewer Authority’s solid waste authority this weekend is having a Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event for residents of Albemarle County, City of Charlottesville, and Town of Scottsville. Residents can drop off their items at the Ivy Solid Waste & Recycling Center at 4576 Dick Woods Road Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m.-to-3 p.m. Advance registration is not required.
The free event welcomes paints, petroleum products, household cleaners, pesticides, batteries, fluorescent lights, acids, adhesives, antifreeze, stains, paint thinners, spray paint, inkjet cartridges, photographic chemicals, mercury thermometers, driveway sealers, pool chemicals, resins, thermostats, and other items. RWSA notes that latex and oil-based paints are accepted for free every day at the Ivy Solid Waste & Recycling Center; just notify the scale house attendant for directions. These services are offered to Albemarle County, City of Charlottesville, and Town of Scottsville residents only.
