Mrs. Rosa Lee Brown, 104, departed this life on Thursday July 25, 2024. She was born on January 25, 1920, in Batesville, VA. She was the daughter of the late Elder Joseph T. and Tobatha J. Green. She was married to the late Daniel H. Brown and they had six children. In addition to her parents, her husband, and her siblings, she was also preceded in death by her two oldest children, George D. Brown and Cora L. Brevard, as well as three grandsons and two great-grandsons.

Mrs. Brown lived in Proffit, VA for many years and was a member of Evergreen Ministries where Rev. Dr. Stanley Woodfolk is the Pastor. She taught Sunday School, was a member of the Senior Missionary Circle, was on the By-Laws Committee and served in any capacity in which she was asked. She was appointed as the “Mother Of Our Church” several years ago by Pastor Woodfolk. She retired from the University of Virginia Dietary Department in 1985. She was a pillar in the Proffit community, and she welcomed family and friends with open arms. She had a warm smile, a huge heart, and giving hands. She showed her children and grandchildren the value of caring for others.

She leaves to cherish her memory her loving and devoted daughters Joan Burton, Margaret Joyce Vaughn, Marian Blakey and Shirley Brown, all of Charlottesville; and a granddaughter whom she raised, Jacqueline Payne of Ruckersville, VA. She also leaves behind many loving grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends, all of whom hold her in high esteem.
