Robert Alexander Harrison, Jr., age 95, died Monday, May 20, 2024. He was born in Claremont, Virginia to the late Robert A. Harrison and Elsie Smith Harrison Rinker. He was also preceded in death by his sisters and brother, Alice Lee Harrison Palmore, Ella Mae Harrison Palmore (Manning) and William Smith Harrison.

He leaves his wife, Jane Harlowe Harrison. He is also survived by his children, Robert (Rob) A. Harrison, III (Shannon), Tamra Harrison Kirschnick, Kendra Harrison Hall (Jim); by his six grandchildren: Kelsey Harrison Richardson (Kyle), Masey Kirschnick, Schuyler Hall Deal (Connor), Alexandra (Allie) Hall, Charlie Hall, and Hawkins Groseclose; Great-grandchildren: Mason and Millie Richardson, and Lily Deal; and close family member David M. Kirschnick. Also surviving are his nephews and nieces: Michael (& Pamela) Manning, Chandra Manning, Robin Manning Gomez, and Mark (& Michelle) Manning, Mark Palmore, and their children; and his brother/sister-in-law, James & Patricia Harlowe, and their daughter Kimberly Harlowe.

He was raised at the Masonic Home of Virginia with his siblings. There were over 250 boys and girls at the Home at that time. He graduated from Virginia Tech (VPI) and then served as an officer in the Air Force. He was very proud to be a Mason and was a member of Babcock Lodge #322 in Highland Springs, and Widow’s Sons’ Lodge #60 of Charlottesville. He was also in the Scottish Rite and the Shrine. He was a member of the American Legion.

Earlier, he volunteered at the Martha Jefferson Hospital Information Desk and for the Fluvanna County “Adopt-A-Highway” program for many years. Please don’t litter!

He worked at the Agricultural Chemical Division of Swift and Co for over 10 years, for Brown & Bigelow for over 10 years, eventually starting his own family business, Harrison Ad Service, Inc. Thornhill Advertising rounded off his long specialty advertising career.

The past three years, Bob and Jane have resided at the Masonic Home in Richmond, Virginia. The Mahova residents will receive information about a service at the Masonic Home.
