ROANOKE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – In a state where Democratic Presidential candidates have won handily since Barack Obama’s first election in 2008, a new Roanoke College Poll shows President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump in a dead-heat in Virginia. Poll Director Dr. Harry Wilson says in a two-way race, Biden and Trump are tied at 42-percent. Third-party candidates, including RFK, Jr., appear to be hurting Trump as Biden takes a 40-38 lead when other candidates are in the poll… though that’s still well within the 4-percent error margin.

Wilson says the top issue, by far, is the economy. And though they didn’t ask the question who would do better on that issue, Wilson says other polls have shown Trump in the lead in that aspect.

Wilson says two things very notable in this poll… only 2% are undecided and that’s usually 15-to-20% at this juncture. And both are far underwater… 36% “favorable” to 57 “unfavorable” to Trump, but 36% “favorable” to 58 “unfavorable” to Biden.
