Charlottesville, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Albemarle County residents can look forward to the grand opening of Biscuit Run Park this Saturday, marking a significant milestone for the community. Rivanna District Supervisor Bea Lapisto-Kirtley shared details about the park’s development during a recent interview with Cville Right Now Live.

“We’re having a special grand opening at 10:00, but it is open to the public starting at noon on Saturday,” Lapisto-Kirtley announced. The park, set to become the largest in Albemarle County, will feature eight miles of multi-use trails and future amenities such as playing fields and restrooms.

Reflecting on 2024, Lapisto-Kirtley highlighted key achievements, including the success of the county’s HART program. “We’ve had over 400 people just in one year that the hearts team has helped …That is a team of a police officer, social worker, and an EMT that goes out on mental health calls,” she noted.

Additionally, Lapisto-Kirtley celebrated safety measures like the Albemarle High School speed zone cameras. Since October, they’ve issued nearly 6,000 warnings to improve pedestrian safety.
