CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA. (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) — Local Charlottesville restaurant Revolutionary Soup was awarded a national award by PETA last week for its Peanut Tofu Soup.

The restaurant was named to PETA’s list for its Souper Vegan Awards, which highlights the best vegan soups from around the country.

Revolutionary Soup’s Peanut Tofu Soup is described in PETA’s press release as a creamy blend of ginger, garlic, chiles and tomatoes, blended together with peanuts and topped with tofu, cilantro and scallions.

“Revolutionary Soup has created a delicious dish that’s kind to animals and provides comfort and warmth in each spoonful,” PETA Founder Ingrid Newkirk wrote in a press release. “Every winner on PETA’s awards list shows how easy it is to make a soup-erb stew or soup that leaves animals in peace and keeps everyone feeling nicely nourished.”

Besides its now award-winning soup, Revolutionary Soup also offers a Classic Miso soup as an option for vegans. This is in addition to its three vegetarian soups — Tomato Basil Bisque, Potato Rosemary and Hungarian Mushroom — and the Loaded Baked Potato soup, which has a vegetarian option.
