RICHMOND, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – The Winsome Earle-Sears for Governor campaign, and its affiliated organizations, Wednesday announced they raised more than $3 million since Lieutenant Governor Earle-Sears launched her campaign just four months ago. She received contributions from all 50 states, and from thousands of supporters in the Commonwealth. Nearly 90% of supporters contributed $100 or less at an average contribution of $35, and more than one-third have made multiple contributions to the campaign post-launch.
“The fight for Virginia’s future is in full-swing and the rush of grassroots and financial support for Winsome over just four months has placed our campaign in a position of great strength,” said Tucker Obenshain, Earle-Sears’ finance director.
Sears was first elected in 2002 to a majority Black House of Delegates district, a first for a Republican in Virginia since 1865. She is the first female Lieutenant Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, and the first Black female elected to statewide office. As Lieutenant Governor, Winsome Earle-Sears presides over the Senate when they are in session.
