CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Charlottesville’s Commissioner of the Revenue sent out a reminder to local businesses about the rate changes for meals tax and transient occupancy tax, effective July 1, 2024.
The Food & Beverage Tax (Meals Tax) for food industry businesses will increase from 6.5% to 7%. The first return reflecting this change is due on August 20, 2024, for the month of July 2024.
For businesses in the hotel, motel, or short-term lodging industry, the tax rate will rise from 8% to 9%. The first return reflecting this increase is also due on August 20, 2024, for the month of July 2024.
