Rebecca Naomi Richards Riall died on November 28, 2024 in Saint Johns County, Florida where she had resided near family for five years.
Rebecca was born in Old Hickory, Tennessee in 1931. She lived in the Nashville area for all of her formative years and held an abiding fondness for it in her heart. After her marriage, she moved frequently with her husband, Jim, for his job and lived in a number of places within the United States eventually settling in Charlottesville, Virginia. Wherever she lived, she was a member of the local Church of Christ congregation. Her Christian faith was a solid foundation of her character.
Rebecca believed strongly in lifelong learning; an extension of her long, talented career as an elementary school teacher. She took a bachelor’s degree from David Lipscomb College and a Masters in Education from the University of Virginia. She served as a Master Teacher in the Albemarle County School system. She led her young scholars through the hard work of learning, but always in a fun and vibrant way, knowing that they could achieve high levels of competency in literacy, numeracy and life when well challenged. Rebecca turned this same focus on her 17 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren as they came along.
Rebecca enjoyed sharing over 65 years of her life journey alongside her husband, Jim. Their marriage was filled with respect, love, adventure and humor. Family was the core of their existence. Rebecca was preceded in death by her husband and is survived by their three children, Robert, Catherine and Daniel.
If a donation is made in Rebecca’s name, her preferred charity is the Churches of Christ Disaster Relief Efforts.
