CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – UPDATE 5/30 10:45AM: The Fluvanna County Sheriff’s Office says a 34-year old Palmyra man faces multiple charges after an attempt to arrest him in the county on outstanding warrants from several jurisdictions Wednesday turned into a pursuit that began in Fluvanna and ended with a crash on Monticello Avenue in Charlottesville. Sheriff’s Lt. Thomas Custer said the incident started around 6:25 Wednesday evening when Cedric Flood was driving a 2024 Honda fled the scene when deputies tried to arrest him. The sheriff office doesn’t give an exact origin or pursuit route, but it started in Fluvanna County went through a portion of Albemarle County, and made its way past I-64 on Monticello Avenue around Druid when the suspect tried an evasive maneuver that resulted in a minor collision with a deputy patrol vehicle. No one was hurt, and Flood was taken into custody by assisting agencies that included State Police who processed the crash scene.

He’s being held without bond in the Central Virginia Regional Jail on 8 counts of probation violations, brandishing, felony eluding, grand larceny, property damage, reckless driving, and possession of a controlled substance. The incident involved a coordinated effort between the Fluvanna Sheriff’s Department, State Police, and Charlottesville and Albemarle Police.

State Police is investigating a crash following a pursuit into Charlottesville at Monticello Avenue and Quarry Road. The road was shut down for a few hours, and there’s no other information at this time. CPD says the officer involved in the pursuit was from another jurisdiction.
