CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Buford, soon to be Charlottesville Middle School, will have a new mascot.

Principal Rodney Jordan revealed the new mascot and nickname, “Young Knights,” along with new school colors of orange and black, during a 7th grade Town Hall.

The name is similar to Charlottesville High School’s, and the colors are the same. Jordan chose the 7th grade assembly for the announcement because they will be the first class in the new CMS.

Jordan explained that the process began in the fall of last year, with 130 initial suggestions from students and the school community. These were narrowed down to the new name. Jordan supports the new mascot and colors because they represent unity with CHS and foster a sense of community.
