CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLERIGHTNOW) – Power restoration efforts continue in the Richmond area after Thursday’s winter storm, which left more than 16,000 Dominion Energy customers without electricity at its peak. While much of the Charlottesville region avoided widespread outages due to temperatures hovering above freezing, Dominion Energy crews are still at work dealing with scattered outages across Richmond, Chesterfield, Henrico, and Powhatan counties. As of Friday morning, many customers have had their power restored, but several hundred remain without electricity in the Richmond metro area. Dominion Energy reports that the remaining outages are largely due to fallen trees and downed power lines, causing smaller, scattered disruptions rather than large circuit failures. Crews are continuing damage assessments and working to restore service, though some restoration times are still unknown. In the Charlottesville area, there are no significant new outages following Thursday’s storm, with only a brief disruption reported in Madison County, where 60 Rappahannock Electric Cooperative customers were without power near Syria and Shenandoah National Park.

Dominion Energy says customers should report any remaining outages and monitor updates through its outage center.
