LURAY, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Shenandoah National Park rangers report Skyline Drive from Thornton Gap Entrance Station (mile 31.5) to Swift Run Gap Entrance Station (mile 65.5) is closed due to icy conditions. Park rangers reported accumulations of ice and snow in the vicinity late Sunday afternoon into the evening and overnight. Rangers say weather and road conditions can change rapidly in the winter, and visitors could experience slick driving conditions on portions of the road not closed. They say although the speed limit is 35 mph, conditions often require lower speeds.
