CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – The past week has been a political whirlwind, with several major events shaking up the landscape. The recent debate has sparked intense discussion, especially among Democrats concerned about President Biden’s performance. Political analyst Bob Roberts shared his insights, stating, “Trump’s performance was terrible. Biden’s performance was a disaster because he looked like he was completely not coherent in terms of what he was doing.” This has led to growing panic among Democrats about Biden’s viability as a candidate.

In addition to the debate fallout, the Supreme Court issued a ruling on presidential immunity, adding another layer of complexity to the political scene. Roberts commented on the reactions, saying, “I think they’re overreacting to it because, in fact, we have to remember if a president can give an order, it doesn’t mean someone’s going to pay the order.” He explained that while a president might have immunity, those who carry out potentially unlawful orders do not, which tempers the ruling’s impact.

Meanwhile, speculation is mounting over Governor Glenn Youngkin as a potential vice-presidential pick for Donald Trump. Roberts discussed Youngkin’s appeal and the challenges of such a selection, noting, “The problem with Trump picking Youngkin is he’s not going to do the bidding of Trump that is in any way going to destroy his reputation.” Despite Youngkin’s clean record and attractiveness as a candidate, his reluctance to act as a “lapdog” for Trump could complicate the decision.
