Née Margaret Elizabeth Marsh, passed on from this life April 7, 2024, after a long valiant fight against cancer, exactly one week after losing her sister Mollie. Born Feb.19, 1947 in Alexandria, Egypt to Mrs. Koula C. Marsh of Limassol, Cyprus and John B. Marsh of Kent, England; she was baptized “Elizabeth” by Archbishop Makarios III, President of Cyprus. The family emigrated to the U.S. to settle in Charlottesville, VA. The Greek community became home, and she was a lifelong member of the Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church.
Peggy attended McGuffey Elementary, Lane High School (class of 1965) and Ferrum College. After meeting her partner in all things, Larry Mundy, they married and embarked on a 57-year adventure of love, hard work and travel, while raising two children, Athena and Chris.
She worked in local banking for 20 years, rising from teller to manager all over Charlottesville. Then, ten years serving the community at MACAA preparing many people (especially women) for the professional workforce. Lastly, at the offices of Albemarle ENT where she combined her love of people and an efficient office.
Throughout life, Peggy was a prolific volunteer, fundraiser and organizer; from Cub Scout den mother to band booster, charities, UVa games (eventually loving Va. Tech football, too); she gave her all. There was a special place in her heart for the Daughters of Penelope, for which she served in every office. She turned her first cancer diagnosis 24 years ago into a rallying cry to fight, uniting with her “Bosom Buddies”.
Peggy was infinitely curious, which she and Larry nourished by travelling extensively. What ultimately sustained her was love, especially her grandchildren. Family came first, those by blood and those by heart were united by her.
