Patricia A. Hamner, a beloved sister, aunt, and advocate for animals, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2024, at Monroe Health and Rehabilitation in Charlottesville, Virginia. She was born on December 19, 1943, in Baltimore, Maryland, to the late Thomas J. Hamner and Olivia M. Hamner.
Patricia is survived by her devoted sister, Marie Dare Payne of Charlottesville, and her two nephews, Travis G. Payne of Palmyra and Jason M. Payne of Charlottesville. Her spirit also lives on in her two cherished furry friends, Princess and Salem, who brought her immeasurable joy throughout her life.
Patricia’s compassion for animals was truly remarkable. She dedicated her life to advocating for their well-being, believing that no creature should be mistreated or cast aside. This deep empathy extended beyond animals to everyone she encountered, as she always had a kind word or a listening ear.
Professionally, Patricia served the community through her work with the Albemarle County Police Department and spent thirty years as an executive secretary at ComDial, where her dedication and work ethic were well-respected by colleagues and friends alike.
