CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) –  The Paramount Theater has announced its schedule for Fall Movie Screenings in 2024, promising thrills, spills, and a little bit of rock and roll for movie fans.

On September 22nd, Jimmy Stewart and Grace Kelly will share the screen again in Alfred Hitchcock’s 1954 film Rear Window. The thriller, set in a New York City apartment complex, will have two screenings at 2:00 PM and 7:00 PM.

The following week, the theater will host a screening of the 10 films entered in the Manhattan Short Film Festival, beginning at 7:30 PM. These shorts, representing 8 countries, are all in contention for awards, and attendees can vote for their favorite. The winning short will be announced on October 6th, 2024.

More shorts will be showcased on September 29th, National Silent Film Day, with a collection of Buster Keaton classics starting at 4:00 PM. The featured shorts are One Week, Sherlock Jr., and Steamboat Bill, Jr.

On October 13th, one of Stephen King’s most uplifting stories returns to the screen at 2:00 PM and 7:00 PM. The Shawshank Redemption tells the powerful story of banker Andy Dufresne, who is framed for the murders of his wife and her lover and serves 19 years in Shawshank Prison.

Finally, on Monday, November 11th, at 7:30 PM, turn those amplifiers up to 11 for Rob Reiner’s metal mockumentary This Is Spinal Tap. The film follows a metal band past its prime as they attempt to regain their former glory, with plenty of comedy along the way.
